1 - Are there any language courses for absolute beginners?
Yes, certainly! You can book a language course with us as an absolute beginner and after two or three weeks, you'll already have reached a level with which you can make yourself understood in several common situations.
Please note that there are specific start date for complete beginner's courses.
2 - Are the teachers native speakers?
Our teachers are all qualified to teach the language of their mother tongue to foreign students. This guarantees a high standard of teaching and natural way of speaking in all of our language courses.
3 - When is the best time to book a language course?
We recommend you begin booking a course approximately three or four months in advance especially for busy summer programs, in order to avoid disappointment. The final payment is due four weeks prior to the start date of your confirmed course. Please NOTE: We ask you to read our Booking Conditions carefully for our complete booking and refund details before you enrol in a program.
4 - Can I book a one-week language course?
Yes you can, but one-week courses are available ONLY for Intensive Language Courses, in order to take full advantage of the time during a one-week stay. Otherwise, all of our language courses and levels have a minimum two-week duration.
5 - Can I book course-only without accommodation?
Yes, definitely! Of course, the price will be adjusted if you do not require our accommodation.
6 - How many students are assigned to a typical language course?
The number of students per class varies depending on the course type, level and program location. The typical number of participants in each class is normally between 8-14.
7 - What levels are offered?
Our schools base their levels of study in “The Common European Frame of Reference for Languages”.
This is a The Council of Europe’s standard for evaluating the different levels of language skill. The framework recognizes 6 different levels in the 4 skill areas: speaking, reading, writing and listening.
The levels are: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 Y C2 (correnponding to Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate I, Intermediate II, Advanced I and Advanced II)
8 - Is there a placement test to determine my language level?
Yes. Every student is given an informal test on the first day of class, called a “Placement Leveling Test”, in order to assign them to the appropriate course that best fits their knowledge level of the language. There is no need to study hard for this placement test, though. Your course placement can be reviewed with school staff after a few classes, if you feel that you have been placed at an inappropriate level.
9 - When do the courses start?
Courses are held throughout the year with start dates every week. Normally, courses start every Monday morning and classes end on Friday.
10 - What types of accommodation are available?
The accommodation options vary according to the location of your language course. Our schools offer several options including residential accommodation, apartments, host families and hotels. The experience you will have will be different, depending on the option that is available at your school and the option that you select. It is also possible to arrange your accommodation on your own, if you prefer. Check out the Services and Prices available for each language school for more specific information on accommodation options available in each city.
11 - Is board included with accommodation?
Depending on the destination you choose, the accommodation may include full board, half board, B&B or no board at all. Generally, apartments do not offer board but most are equipped with kitchens so you can prepare your own meals. Shopping for food in another country is part of the immersion experience! Accommodation with host families normall offer B&B, half or full board options. Check out the Services and Prices page on each language school page for specific details on the options available at that location.
12 - What is the best day to arrive at my accommodation?
Accommodation is made available the day before you start your booked course, which will normally be a Sunday. However, some locations have alternative arrival/departure days, so please confirm your specific accommodation arrival date on the school page.
If you have booked a transfer from the airport to your accommodation, you will be met at airport by an ILP L staff member and you will be accompanied to your lodging. If you do not have a booked transfer, then simply follow specific directions you will receive in your Welcome Package after your course is confirmed.
13 - When should I plan to depart from the program accommodation?
Normally, the departure day will be a Saturday, or the day after you finish your booked course. However, certain cities will have a different to arrival / departure date. More information can be found on different destinations pages. Please check the Prices link on your course location to confirm your dates of arrival and departure.
14 - Can I book any extra nights at my accommodation?
Normally this option is available - if there is space. There is at an additional cost per extra night, so please, contact us in order to confirm the cost. Please note, that we can only offer an extra night if the school has space available. During the busy summer months, we are normally fully booked and extra nights are very limited.
15 - Are any leisure activities organized?
Every school organizes some evening activities and weekend excursions for the students. The activities are a great way to make friends and practice your new language skills you are there to learn. There is very little time to get bored in our programs! These activities are optional and at an extra cost.
16 - Are certificates given upon course completion?
Upon completion of a language course and with the required attendance, each student receives a Certificate of Participation. It is also possible to qualify to take an international language examination if you take a long-term course. Please ask us about this possibility, if you are interested in this option.
17 - How do I pay for my course? When can I make a payment?
You can make your payment either by credit card or by bank transfer. You can find more details on methods of payment and the deadlines for making a payment on our booking site.
18 - How does the Individual/Teens Junior Program work?
Our Individual Junior Program is a specialized language travel experience that is geared to younger students between 14 and 17 years of age.
Participants will benefit by increasing their confidence, learning grammar structures and expanding their vocabulary without being exposed to traditional classroom stress or boredom. In the afternoons, we offer a supervised and specialized activity program that’s interesting and engaging for our younger learners. This ensures an absolute immersion into the language and culture of the host country. Students in this program are supervised during their course and activities to ensure a high level of security and personal safety.
Our current Junior Program destinations are: England (Brighton, Devon, London, Swanage), Ireland (Dublin & Cork), Malta (St. Julians, St. Paul's Bay), Canada (Toronto), USA (New York), France (Nice), Germany (Oberwesel, Frankfurt), Italy (Rome) and Spain (Barcelona).
The Individual Junior Program price includes:
- Language Course: 20 lessons a week.
- Educational materials
- Accommodation and board as booked
- Full-time activities supervision by our trained group leaders
- Transfer from/to the airport
- Supervised tours and excursions
